Your project involves interviewing three people. You will choose somebody from childhood/adolescent, somebody from early/middle adulthood, and somebody from late adulthood. You will Interview them on a topic you found interesting from the course (friendship, dating, divorce, career choice, parenting style, attachment, death, etc):
Childhood – Adolescence (ages 4-19)
Early Adulthood- Middle adulthood (ages 20-64)
Late Adulthood (ages 65 and up)
You will be discussing:
Interviews: What topic will you be exploring? How do your interviewees answers reflect their current stages of development?
A discussion on their current stage of Biological, Psychosocial, and Cognitive development.
Typed report (4 FULL written pages-not including the title and reference page, YOU DO NOT NEED an abstract). Make sure to get permission from your interviewees to share their interview. You may Change names or identifying information.
You should discuss the following points when you write up your essay:
What stage of development are each of your interviewees currently experiencing or what can they expect to experience as they age?
Biologically (brain development, body growth, senses, etc.)?
Cognitively (Piaget, intelligence theory, etc)?
Psychosocial (Erikson or Kohlberg)?
In your conclusion, compare how the different ages are similar/different
YOU MUST DISCUSS EACH OF THESE TOPICS AS IT RELATES TO INFORMATION FOUND IN THE TEXTBOOK. This does not mean simply stating “cognitively, this person is in the concrete operational stage.” You must demonstrate that you understand the theories.
TOPIC FOR PROJECT:
The topic you interview on can be anything you found interesting throughout the text. Examples might include theories of aging, career choice, finding a partner, death and dying, mate selection, divorce, friendship, attachment style, parenting style, etc… The main theme (topic) of your project is entirely up to you. Choose a topic you have an interest in.
You may have some other more specific goals, too. Maybe you can view this as an opportunity to learn something more about somebody, for example, you may use this as a chance to get to know your grandparent better.
Your paper should be a minimum of 4 written pages, double-spaced, and typed using Times new roman font with 1″ margins. The title page and reference pages do not count as a page (DO NOT INCLUDE AN ABSTRACT). THE PAPER MUST BE IN APA Format.
