The Third Person Effect
You’ve learned about how the 3rd person effect works. Apply this phenomenon to a piece of media that you or someone else might consider “dangerous” for the general audience.
Describe the piece of media (briefly describe its content)
Describe your interaction with it (Did you watch/hear/play/read it? Did you avoid it?)
Describe the public reaction to it (Support with evidence. E.g. an article/review of the piece of media that highlights its inherent risk/lack of risk)
Analyze your interpretation of the risk of the piece of media. Did you think it could influence people negatively? Did you feel influenced by it?
You will be graded on the thoroughness of your analysis, the accuracy of the example for each context and style. Carefully proofread to ensure you receive no deductions for spelling and grammar. See the rubric below and on Canvas to best prepare for how you’ll be graded.
