Report about climate change

Assignment 3: Report on Climate Change

Due: November 5, 2020
Description: Please write a report (in the style of a book report) on one of the following subjects, or another similar subject, regarding the climate change crisis. Since it is a report, it need not include direct references or quotes, in other words a bibliography without footnotes or endnotes will suffice. I encourage you to use visual aides (graphics or figures for instance), and the report should be approximately 500 to 1000 words in length. And no more than three or four good sources, either written texts or online articles, should be needed (but please indicate what they are in a bibliography).
Suggestions or topics for the report:
i) Nitrous oxides, or N2O, recently has been described as a much more significant greenhouse gas than previously thought. Human activities, such as applying fertilizers to farming fields, have increased the amount of Nitrous Oxides in the atmosphere. Write a detailed description of this gaseous compound, how humans are increasing this compound in the atmosphere, and what this means for the future.
ii) Recent efforts have been made towards the development or harnessing of new forms of energy, such as fusion power. Write a detailed report on the development of the Tokamak reactors.
iii) Forest fires have become events that have been increasing in frequency and severity, and there has been noticeable change just in the past 40 or 50 years. Forest fires impact the atmosphere, and the environment generally, in a variety of ways. Expand on this in a report.
iv) The Greenland ice sheet, and other similar glaciers, are melting at rates even faster than climate scientists had predicted. Give a detailed account of this process, and what it may mean for the Earth and its climate.
Please note that other subjects are acceptable but I recommend selecting one of these subjects. Also, please remember to limit the length of this report as described above. A more complex assignment will follow this one; and the following assignment will require an approach more suitable for an essay (with references and such). And again, a clear bibliography is enough to accompany this report.
