Recognizing Maintenance Errors

Maintenance Resource Management (MRM) is a general process for improving communication, effectiveness, and safety in airline maintenance operations. Effectiveness is measured through the reduction of maintenance errors. MRM is also used to change the safety culture of an organization by establishing a pervasive, positive attitude toward safety.

As a maintenance safety manager in a global airline, you are responsible for the development, operation, and continuous improvement of maintenance safety and error reduction programs.

You are to create a presentation, which outlines and explains the aspects of improved maintenance safety and error reduction program that should include:

Recognizing factors when a threat exists.
A strategy to deal with the maintenance errors, so that it does not reduce safety margins or contribute to additional errors.
Information explaining the difference between maintenance errors, maintenance failure, and human error in aviation maintenance and the tactics to distinguish between the three.
The resist and resolve filters or defense mechanisms for any existing error before it becomes consequential to safety.

Analyze and summarize the event or incident that occurred in the article you located. Discuss and present your agenda/training program in the form of a 4-5 page report to your director. Provide reasoning as to why you feel your agenda/program will aid in recognizing and preventing maintenance errors.
