A bibliography is a list of sources that gives bibliographic information (the author and publication information). Each entry in this bibliography will be annotated.
An annotation is a summary and evaluation of each source, a note about what each source says, how it compares to other items on the bibliography, and how you will be able to use the source in your paper.
For this assignment, you will give a list of sources that will appear in your paper. Each item will have an annotation (see below).
Format
The annotated bibliography consists of a short summary of some of your sources as well as your analysis of the usefulness of the source in terms of your research. Each annotation should cover the source thoroughly and clearly, yet concisely.
There should be three parts to each annotated entry in your bibliography:
• Full bibliographic information, correctly formatted according to MLA or APA style—you will be graded down if you fail to follow MLA or APA format
• A paragraph summarizing your source, particularly the parts that pertain directly to your topic
• A paragraph with your assessment of the source. You might consider the following questions when writing the second paragraph. How are you planning to use this source in your paper? What are the author’s biases, if any? How does this source compare with similar sources on the same issue?
• You need a minimum of seven sources in your working bibliography, five of them annotated. Expect to add more sources before writing your paper.
