Personal Narrative
2. Causal Argument: We all have weird quirks—beliefs about ourselves or the world that others don’t share, odd habits that make our friends laugh at us. In this essay, identify a strange habit, belief, or personality trait of yours and argue what caused you to be this way. You should use multiple pieces of evidence to prove your point. You can use your own personal experience and interviews with people who know you well. Since there is not typically one cause for anything in our life, your essay can and should follow multiple potential causes and explain how they interact with one another to form who you are. This is worth 15 percent of my total grade.
I am obviously terrible at writing, even a personal narrative. Feel free to ad-lib as much as you want. But basically the topic I want to be written about is. I was adopted at the age of 7 by a family old enough to be my grandparents, who already had 1 biological daughter that was 22. Before my adoption I was in foster care. I have no idea who my biological parents are. Nor do I care to know. My father died at 16 from complications of pneumonia. My mother died when I was 25 from a massive heart attack. I have 2 special needs children. 1 has had upwards of 30 surgeries to reconstruct his airway, has a feeding tube. My youngest is autistic with a muscle condition that doesn’t allow him to walk. All of this plays a role in how I have abandonment issues. I never feel secure no matter how hard I try. I always feel I will never be good enough for anyone….because if my own biological parents didn’t want me….who would?
