The medical and hospital industries are no exception to the general trend of the times, so the roles of APRN are also more diverse to match the general trend of the times. In which, there are 2 roles of the controversial APRN: nurse leader and nurse educator among the 6 main roles. I agree on these roles in meeting APN statues, who are committed to preparing a highly qualified APRN workforce that will serve future generations of Americans.

One of the advantages that Nurse Leader and Nurse Educator can consider is the increase in salaries depending on geographic area and practice facility. In particular, Nurse Educator has higher salaries for educators in hospitals or other health facilities than in academic institutions. In addition to the higher promotion opportunities, CNL as a final qualification for those wishing to pursue an academic career may need to obtain a PhD. Meanwhile, MSN can study a Doctor of Philosophy in Nursing (PhD), especially if they want to teach and publish in the academic environment or PhD in Practice of Nursing (DNP), if they wish to follow to expel research into nursing practice, often in non-academic settings. CNL is not limited to working with any kind of patient or in any healthcare facility. In cooperation with other managers, they have the freedom to identify gaps in healthcare delivery or patient outcomes and to implement solutions. For those who like expertise diversity, independence and have the opportunity to become a results-based leader, CNL may be an ideal role. An MSN in Nursing Education is well-suited for RNs who want to focus on education and pedagogy (research teaching) in a clinical or academic setting. Many healthcare organizations have a high demand for individuals with skills to run formal inpatient training programs (new nurses) and offer continuing education courses.

Since the Clinical Nurse Leader (CNL) has a general role, the CNL must think strategically about healthcare systems and procedures, so this role may not be appropriate individuals who enjoy working one-on-one with their patients. Because the CNL is a relatively new advanced nursing position, assignments and job responsibilities may be a bit vague or unspecified in some healthcare organizations. An MSN in Nursing Education may not be necessary to hold as many teaching or training positions that those pursuing a degree may desire. RN’s, especially those with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or a master’s degree related to non-nursing-related education, may also pursue educational and training roles in Healthcare organizations and academies. Paying instructors in non-tenure academic teaching roles, especially as a support instructor, is low compared to other positions for RN prepared by a master’s degree.

The implications for nursing is specially positioned to solve the problems that are causing the national health system. These roles of APN represent an exciting and promising opportunity to nurture leadership roles, and nurse educator works with many practice partners and carries out initiatives to improve disease quality and safety multiplied across all healthcare facilities.
