What are the top five things you think a parent or caregiver should know about nutrition during the first two years of life?
A good friend of yours is considering becoming a parent and has little experience with or knowledge of babies. You realize they don’t likely understand why a baby cries and how much a baby might cry. What could you tell them about the period of PUPRLE crying and Shaken Baby Syndrome?
It is important infants and toddlers have access to a pediatrician to monitor their health, growth and development. Parents often rely on pediatrician to answer questions and give reassurance to concerns of parenting or development of their baby/toddler.
Describe your experiences with a pediatrician or research about ‘well baby visits’ with a pediatrician. What might this look like?
What equity concerns are there related to access, availability, and affordability for families with infants / toddlers to health care in their communities? How might this inequity affect the development of the child?
Your post should be 1-2 paragraphs long and should provide your unique perspective.
By the deadline, reply to two of your classmates’ posts. In your replies, ask a question or for clarification or provide support or an example. Be sure to loop back to your own post and answer any questions you have been asked.

Ages 18 months- 2 years old. The material that I chose was Play-Doh. Play-Doh is a modeling compound used by young children for arts and crafts projects at home. This material would be appropriate for fine motor skills in this age because you can make whatever you want with your hands, this requires hand eye coordination. For this example a child gets Play-Doh and rolls it with their hands into a “snake/worm” with different color Play-Doh. Then they’re gonna put it together and pinch it together making a chain or necklace. Looping them together. The pinching really helps the fine motor movements because you’re using the tips of your fingers that would help with writing etc, that will develop over time. At ages 18-2 years old children are able to stack up 2-4 objects. Makes copies of strength lines and circles. I think this material would be good for fine motor milestones.

Question: 2. What are the top five things you think a parent or caregiver should know about nutrition during the first two years of life?
Answer:
The top five things I think a parent or caregiver should know about nutrition during the first two years of life are: 1. breastfeeding, 2. alternatives to breastfeeding, 3.when, what, and how to introduce solid foods 4. USDA infant meal patterns 5. child malnutrition.
Breast milk is considered the ideal diet for newborns. Several recent studies have reported that it is not just babies that benefit from breastfeeding. However, not all women may be able to breastfeed. Besides breast milk, infant formula is the only other milk product that the medical community considers nutritionally acceptable for infants under the age of one year. This is good news for mothers who may be unable to breastfeed for a variety of reasons and for fathers who might feel left out. A parent or caregiver should know when, what, and how to introduce solid foods. From the lesson of Chapter 4 we know here are some signs that show an infant is ready for foods other than breast milk or infant formula: child can sit with little or no support, child has good head control and child opens his or her mouth and leans forward when food is offered. Children should be allowed to try one food at a time at first and there should be 3 to 5 days before another food is introduced. This helps caregivers see if the child has any problems with that food, such as food allergies. It may take numerous attempts before a child gains a taste for it. So caregivers should not give up if a food is refused on first offering. USDA infant meal patterns are also important for parents or caregiver to know. Besides, A parent or caregiver should avoid child malnutrition.
