HURM 1000 Assignment: # 2 Goal of Assignment -Experiential HR Learning Activity
The assignment has Three (3) parts:
1. An HR experience interview
2. Provide a summary of the interview
3. Provide a reflective journal on your learning and development (max 500 words)

Assignment Topic Options pick one (1) of the following options:

Interview an HR Professional
or

Interview a current Supervisor or another individual that has responsible for managing employees and get their understanding of HR

Due: Week 11
Marks: 20% of final

A. Interview an HR Professional

Ask the HR Professional the Following questions:

Why did you first enter HR as a career?
How long have you been in working in HR
What do you find most exciting about the field of HR
What do you feel is the most challenging part or HR
Plus at least 4 questions of your own questions

To complete the Reflective Journal
Summaries and post their answers
Reflect and discuss the following
What insights to HR do you now have?
From this interview are you more interested or less interested in a career in HR, and why
From a student perspective what value did you get from this assignment, what you liked? What you did not like? What did you learn?

B. Interview a current Boss/manager
How long have you been managing employees?
Have you notice changes in the demands of your employees and how have you addressed them?
What do you like about managing employees
What do you feel is the most challenging part of managing employees
Plus at least four of your own questions

To complete the Reflective Journal
Summaries and post their answers
Reflect and discuss the following
What insights to being a manager do you now have?
From this interview are you more interested or less interested in a career managing people and why
From a student perspective what value did you get from this assignment, what you liked? What you did not like? What did you learn?
