Discussion Forum – Women’s Issues, Voting, and Elections

Submission Criteria:

Using the course text, additional resources, and questions below, you will engage in an online discussion with your professor and class peers.

Students are required to post initial response to the questions in at least 250 words .

Students are required to engage with at least 2 or more different class peers .

reply to two class peers, ( peer response)Each peer response should be at least 150 words.

Your word count should be placed at the bottom of your initial response and your peer responses.

A complete assignment submission include your initial response and a minimum of 2 peer responses. Incomplete submissions may not be reviewed for credit consideration.

Submissions that are submitted after the deadlines posted or without the required parts may not be graded.

1- Before starting this Discussion Forum be sure to read Chapter 3 and watch the video below. The corresponding PowerPoint presentations can be found under modules. This assignment will focus on your ability to analyze the text content and subsequent information provided. Your responses should rely on facts and real-world examples. While opinion is fine, your responses should rely on facts and real-world examples. It is your understanding of the factual content that I am looking for versus your opinion. What would you have hoped to learn from their responses?

3- Respond to class peers in the opposite group and respectfully engage in a discussion based on their responses. Specifically, assess their logic and whether or not you agree. If you do not agree, how do you differ in your approach?

Where possible try to select peers without a response from anyone. The goal is to analyze responses and support or respectfully counter.

Women’s Issues: policy issues—nominally, at least—that are perceived to affect women more than men, particularly issues of reproductive health, reproductive rights, equal employment, family leave, and child care.

Gender Gap: The regular pattern of differences in opinion between men and women, including differences in voting behavior, with women being more likely than men to support the Democratic Party.

Political Correctness: Conformity with the idea that forms of expression should avoid excluding, marginalizing, or offending certain groups. Viewed by some as censorship
Women’s March on Washington (January 21, 2017): A mass demonstration to protest the conservative social agenda of the Trump presidency held on the day after Donald Trump’s inauguration. Similar marches were held in cities across the United States as well as abroad.

Billy Bush: Disgraced former host of Access Hollywood who was caught on tape inciting Donald Trump to boast about sexually predatory behavior.

Ivanka Trump: Donald Trump’s daughter (b. 1981). She has been appointed by her father to a position in the White House.

Steve Bannon: Former executive chairman of far-right Breitbart News, Bannon joined the campaign to elect Donald Trump in 2016 and the Trump administration, as chief strategist, in 2017. Known for his views on national sovereignty, on “economic nationalism,” and on an overzealous “administrative state,” which he has asserted has been contemptibly engineered by Democrats.
