The Big Five Personality Model and the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator are the two most commonly used for personality framework. The MBTI uses a serious of 100 questions of how they usually feel and is broken into four categories Extraverted, Sensing, Thinking, and Judging. Although it is widely used there are down sides of the test for example most people who take it multiple times receive different results, theirs also no in-between for the four categories your either one or the other. Lastly it is a personality test that is completely unrelated to job performance (Robins & Judge, 2017)

Unlike the MBTI model which has four categories The Big Five Personality Model, of course has five factors Conscientiousness, Emotional Stability, Extraversion, Openness experience, and Agreeableness because of the uniqueness of the categories there is countless studies with supportive evidence of how the big five can predict behavior at work. Therefor the Big Five Personality Model is more reliable then the MBTI when wanting to understand if a person would fit a potential job. (Robins & Judge, 2017)

By having employees take the Big Five Test I should be able to tell how likely they will be able to retain information both inside and outside of training, since my job is a health setting it is important that they have a high understanding of the job, need little guidance and follow HIPPA guidelines. At my company there is a lot of tasks that your required to do outside the normal business hours. A lot of meetings, traveling, after hours scheduling, and training there for any employee who works here must have a good home work balance, if they do not score well in the emotional stability section they may not be able to meet the demand of the job. Since it’s a health field job that relies heavily on the sales of products its also super important that the employee has good interpersonal skills and emotionally expressive.

There is downsides to the test as well, if your relying heavily on the test results and not any other outside factors such as interview and resume you may miss some of the persons characteristics that isn’t captured by the test.
