Community Organizing/Advocacy Project:
Design your own type of organizing or advocacy activity.
Students may base
their project on their field placement/internship (if participating in one), initiate their own
project, or volunteer with one of a wide variety of neighborhood, community or campus
organizations. They may continue a current project or begin a new one. Projects should be
designed to achieve measurable outcomes by the end of the semester based on mobilizing the
participation of others and/or influencing a local, state, federal, or international issue or problem.
Students are expected to spend at least eight (8) hours on this project (not including writing the
paper or preparing the presentation).

The paper should be eight (8) pages in length, no less than seven (7) full pages, no more than ten
(10) pages. Include your signed time sheet (does not count as one of the 8 to 10 pages). Your
presentation should be at least eight power point slides and should be about six to seven minutes
with three to four minutes for questions, lasting a total of ten minutes.
