The purpose of this DB is to listen to the arguments that are made, find the discussion points and the claims that are made, and determine the type of evidence – if any – that is used to support the claims.

Backing and support for claims are vital in every argument that is made. Without backing, claims are merely opinions that are baseless. This means that they cannot stand up against the opposing views and that they are easily dismissible. Also listen for any logical fallacies: oversimplification; hasty generalization; post hoc, ergo propter hoc; begging the question; false analogy; either/or thinking; and non sequitur. Also listen for valid, strong evidence that is used to support stated claims.

The assignment:

Find at least 5 different claims that are made: 2 must be from Crowder and the other 3 must be from anyone he talks to. You can choose one individual to focus on, or you can find one claim from one individual and two claims from another individual, etc.
For each claim, find 2 pieces of evidence (that is 10 total you are looking for) that is used by the claimant to support that claim.
Describe the evidence (Strong? Weak? Logos? Pathos? Ethos? Valid? Invalid? Etc.).
Explain if the claimant succeeds in making a strong argument (claim) or not. Give the why, not just yes or no
