Critical Analysis essay
In each peered readings from modules 6, 9 and 10, the authors share a common topic/subject such as racism, peer pressure and inequality, just to name a few. For your Project 2- Critical Analysis essay, you are to choose a peered reading, either Langston Hughes, “Salvation” and George Orwell’s, “Shooting an Elephant” or “The Fourth of July” by Audre Lorde and Zora Neale Hurston, “How It Feels to Be Colored Me” or Maya Angelou’s “Graduation” and Mike Rose’s, “I Just Wanna Be Average” and write a 2.5-3.5 page essay where you show how both authors use of at least one literary technique and one literary element to explore a common theme. For Example: In Langston Hughes, “Salvation,” the author explores the topic/subject of guilt. Through the use of characterization and first person point of view, Hughes reveals that sometimes we are most ashamed of the deeds we get away with.
Guidelines for Essay Format:
● Create a header in the upper right-hand corner that includes your last name, followed by a space with a page number; number all pages consecutively with Arabic numerals (1, 2, 3, 4, etc.), one-half inch from the top and flush with the right margin.
● In the upper left-hand corner of the first page, list your name, your instructor’s name, the course, and the date (2 November 2020). Again, be sure to use double-space throughout your essay
● Double-space the text of your paper, and use a legible font (e.g. Times New Roman. The font size should be 12 pt.)
● Type your (2.5-3.5) page paper and share your First Draft with a peer via Google docs. Your first draft should be in your Project 2 folder.
