Cost-Benefit Analysis and a policy note
You are asked to make a national Cost-Benefit Analysis for a new road in the municipality of Tongerloo from the perspective of a standard CBA analyst. This is an individual assignment in which you have to make your own CBA of the new road. The results of the CBA need to be presented clearly in a policy note for the municipal council of Tongerloo (max. 4 pages, Times New Roman, Font: 11, spacing before and after (0 pt) and 1.5 lines spacing, excluding the Excel file and the list of references). Note that some members of the municipal council have not seen a CBA before. So it is important to clearly explain in layperson’s language what a CBA entails (Imagine that you have to briefly explain it to your grandparents). Please avoid any technical details. Although the policy note should be written in a non-technical way, the council asks you to underpin your statements in the scientific literature. They have also asked academics (scientific scholars and researchers) to participate in evaluating your policy note so they expect that you include at least five references to relevant academic literature.
