You will simply be coding behaviours as they appear in a video (e.g., television show). You are to choose two (2) variables that are likely to be related in some way. One of those variables must be a grouping variable, such as male/female or young/old or alone/in dyads. The other variable must be an observable behaviour, such as touching or smiling or turning away. My choice is , Friends, season 9, episodes 1-5)
Clearly state the research question and hypothesis that you will be using for your term paper. Determine the type of past literature that would be relevant for you to include in your term paper.

Using the PsycINFO database, find a minimum of three relevant, peer-reviewed, journal articles that you will be able to use in the introduction section of your term paper. From the past literature that you identify, choose one article that involves empirical research to summarize. Be sure to clearly state your research question and hypothesis at the end of your introduction section.

Use your hypothesis to guide you in creating a coding scheme that you will be able to use to collect data from your source video.

Write the Methods section of your research report, including the subsections “materials” and “procedure”. In the “materials” subsection, clearly state that the coding scheme can be found in Appendix A, and be sure to place the coding scheme appropriately in your report. Using your coding scheme and approved source video, collect your data.

Write a results section for your research report. For the purposes of this term paper assignment, you will only be expected to report frequencies of relevant behaviours, making appropriate comparisons between groups. The next section of your research report will be your discussion section, followed by your reference section.
