Assessment of History. (70%) 2.75-3 pages Looking at the civilizations we’ve studied thus far, does geography or individual leaders matter most in how a civilization evolves? In your answer, you should choose two of the following civilizations we’ve studied–Mesopotamia, Egypt, Greece, or Rome–and assess the relative effects of leadership and geography in the evolution of each society.
Your paper should have a clear thesis statement in the introduction and should make a clear argument throughout. You must cite the material you use from Backman, and you must use four of the sources provided over the course of the semester thus far from your class preparation assignments. You may also use material from the web resources I’ve linked to on the course website. You may not use any other sources. If you do, whether those sources are cited or not, you will receive a zero on the midterm.
You will turn in a cover sheet with this mid-point portfolio—you can turn it in separately or make it the first page of your portfolio. It does not count toward your page count.
Cite your material using in-text citations like this:
