Time:
The time estimated to complete this assignment is approximately 4 hours per week; however, there is no set time limit on this assignment. Students should complete this assignment concurrently with their module activities.
Instructions:
Each week, the individual student will complete the course module as outlined in the syllabus. Students are encouraged to complete your annotated bibliography as they complete the weekly readings and activities. Students will also be required to add additional resources of your own curation to the annotated bibliography, and it is highly recommended that they seek out and utilize these sources as they complete their discussion posts. The sources included in each student’s annotated bibliography should be utilized in the completion of the final group project (although not every reference from every group member will be utilized).
During week 4, students will be asked to complete a peer review of their peers’ annotated bibliography to potential identify areas for improvement. Students will earn full credit for
The annotated bibliography will be submitted several times during the semester to ensure that you are progressing:
● Week 3: Total of 6 resources (3 from Canvas modules and 3 student-curated resources)
● Week 4: Peer review
● Week 6: Total of 14 resources
● Week 9: Total of 20 resources
Template Components
● APA 7 Reference: The reference should be formatted according to prescribed guidelines as outlined in the APA 7th edition manual. (Double spacing is not required.
● Summary: The summary should be a factual outline of the key pieces of information provided within the resource. This summary may be provided as a bulleted list. Consider including direct quotations, including page numbers and minute-markers as necessary.
● Synthesis: The synthesis should be an integration of information from the summary into your understanding of what it means to be a nurse practitioner.
● Source Credibility: For each source, you will evaluate the source credibility using the framework provided by the Lydia M. Olson Library (2018). You will perform this credibility evaluation for each resource, including those included in the course module. You may use resources with varying levels of credibility. For example, an article written to persuade physicians to oppose expanded NP scope of practice may include false information or deliberately inadequate exploration of the intricacies of the issues at play. Although this source may be of lower credibility, it is still a valuable resource to consider for your project because it is “out there” and could potentially influence key stakeholders’ understanding of NP scope of practice.
● Course Objective: Using the list provided above, identify the corresponding course objectives which align with the reading you have selected. All course objectives should be addressed at least once by the completion of your annotated bibliography.
Completion:
To successfully complete this assignment, students will provide an APA 7 citation for each resource, summarize the key points of that resource, and synthesize the knowledge gained through the required readings and additional scholarly or lay resources identified. Students should indicate the alignment of the resource with one or more course objectives as specified on the template. All course objectives should be addressed at least once by the completion of your annotated bibliography. Students should submit a draft of the template at prescribed intervals as outlined in the syllabus.
