Project Goal: To understand how social processes shape health-related behaviors and responses to health concerns, this project requires that you: (1) conduct research and prepare an analysis that reflects how social circumstances shape the health and health care options of people in our community 2) reflect on how the perceptions of health, health-related behaviors, and health care delivery of an organization, nonprofit, or other program are shaped by social and institutional factors 3) reflect on your own assumptions about health behaviors and health care as a result of this project.

Complete a Final Paper (15 points). Submit no later than Wednesday December 9th. This is the final week of class and your final assignment for this class.

Your task is to locate a service provider/program that provides a health related service (health promotion, prevention or intervention service) at an agency, nonprofit, clinic, or other organization. This location might be a public-supported community clinic, a family planning center, a school, an elder care facility, a nursing home, a shelter, homeless shelter, or a court mandated program. Local sites such as North County Lifeline, Vista Community Clinic, Health and Human Services (Aging and Independent Services) and even some public schools have a variety of programs that are potentials, along with many others. Private practices (therapists, counselors, etc.) are not appropriate for this project. You are strongly encouraged to move outside your comfort zone and explore something new and different! This makes for a much more interesting analysis of the services being rendered.
